A man was arrested by Santa Fe police for kidnapping and battery after he followed a woman into a woman’s restroom and held her against her will.
On Monday, Aug. 3, at approximately 9 p.m., police responded to 122 West San Francisco St. after a caller reported that a man had followed her into the women’s restroom at the Plaza Mercado and would not let her leave.
The male was identified as Alexander C. Corvison, 35. Police say he already had an active arrest warrant for indecent exposure.
Officers learned through investigation the woman had been shopping at Plaza Mercado and when she arrived, she saw Corvison sitting in the patio area. She went to the restroom door, entered the code, and then walked into the restroom.
She then observed that Corvison had followed her in, and he rushed her, with both hands on his beltline.
Corvison then physically held the woman in a corner with the upper part of his body, as she tried to escape, and she reported that she thought he was trying to take his pants off.
Fortunately, she was able to escape where he had pinned her, and she ran and shouted for help. She called her father, who located Mr. Corvison, and both she and her father remained on the phone with police until Mr. Corvison was apprehended.
Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact the Santa Fe Police Department.
