Santa Fe County seeks public’s help identifying 1974 Jane Doe

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a Jane Doe whose remains were found Dec. 2, 1974, about 6 miles south of Santa Fe.Investigators believe the victim was between 14 and 19 years old. Authorities said she may have died by strangulation sometime between Nov. 29 and Dec. 1, 1974.Officials said the young girl or young woman had been sexually assaulted and was found without clothing.She was described as about 5 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing about 110 pounds, with strawberry-blonde hair and blue-gray eyes.The medical examiner also noted a surgical scar believed to be from a cesarean section.Any tips should be sent to Santa Fe County Sheriff’s office at: (506) 428-3720
