Ducky Dynasty star Sadie Robertson Huff is opening up about a terrifying choking incident that her eight-month-old daughter, Kit Carroway, recently suffered.
She hopes her story will be both powerful testimony of God’s grace, and also a reminder to parents to be prepared for similar situations.
Thankfully, she says Kit is completely healthy again after what she describes as an extremely traumatic and scary incident.

“I’m currently walking through the waves of anxiety from the trauma of the situation, and the immense gratitude for the miracle of Kit’s full recovery and God’s undeniable hand on this situation,” Huff writes in a social media post about the experience.
What Happened During Sadie Robertson Huff’s Daughter Kit’s Choking Incident?
Huff says she was preparing dinner while Kit was sitting her high chair having a snack. Suddenly, she began to choke.
“Within seconds, you could tell the severity of the situation. My mom pulled her from the high chair and placed my girl into my arms just as she stopped breathing,” Huff writes.
Thankfully, Huff — who says she is “one of those people who likes to be prepared for all situations” — had watched several videos on baby choking rescue and CPR protocol.
“Everyone went into action and into prayer,” she recalls. “Mom called 911, I started CPR and everyone began to pray out loud and move the other kids downstairs.”
“I felt God’s spirit guiding me, partnering with me in what I had learned and seen. I remember saying ‘What do I do?’ and then immediately started doing it and declaring life,” she continues.

Her actions worked: Just as the paramedics were pulling in, Huff says that Kit “miraculously coughed and began to breathe.” She rode with her daughter in an ambulance to the hospital, where the family stayed overnight for observation before Kit was given a clean bill of health.
Huff also says that her husband Christian Huff, who drove to the hospital behind them, said “there was a rainbow over the ambulance the whole way there.”

Huff says she hopes her experience will encourage parents to be prepared for similar choking situations.
- Choking occurs when the airway becomes completely or partially blocked by a foreign object, such as food.
- It can occur in any age, but it’s especially common in young children, according to the American Red Cross.
- The Mayo Clinic provides a list of symptoms and a breakdown of what to do if an infant is choking.
Huff also shared several videos on social media showing how to perform CPR on an infant.
“We know that God has our children in His hands,” she continued. “We are not in control of our children’s breath or even of our own.”
“We can’t live in a state of fear…we have to trust God in all of it,” Huff goes on to say. “And also, preparation and knowledge in the spiritual and physical sense can be a gift that you give yourself and your family! Please join us in thanking God for this miracle!”
Who Are Sadie Robertson Huff’s Children?
Kit Carroway is the youngest of Huff’s three daughters.
She and her husband Christian also share Honey James, who was born in May 2021, and Haven Belle, who was born in May 2023.

Christian Huff and Sadie Robertson Huff were married on Nov. 25, 2019 in a ceremony on her family’s property in Monroe, La. The two built a new home close to where she grew up.
