Funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency are going to Roswell to repair or replace fire engine vehicles that were damaged or rendered defunct in floods in the fall of 2024. The more-than-$2.5 million going to Roswell comes from a larger FEMA recovery package for disaster recovery in New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana.Close to six inches of rain fell on Roswell in several hours overnight on October 19-20 of that year, causing widespread damage. Two people died, and first responders rescued 300 people from floodwaters. The next day, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed an emergency declaration for Chaves County to receive $1 million in state funds for flooding relief efforts in and around Roswell.
