Dutton Ranch, Episode 6 Preview

This is the official description for Dutton Ranch Episode 6, titled “A Cowboy Saint”:

As Rip steadies the ranch, Beth and Beulah chase a deal that could alter everything. Oreana’s pull on Carter deepens, while a prodigal son’s return sparks chaos that threatens everyone.

We got a glimpse of all this last week so we can make some reasonable guesses about what’s to come. Rob Will returned at the end of Ep. 5 and video shared by Paramount+ teases a tense conversation to come with his mom, Beulah Jackson. It feels like a stretch to call him “the prodigal son” but who else could it be?

Beth and Beulah agreed to work together, and this week it looks like they’re taking action. A trailer (below) finds them taking the kind of business meeting Yellowstone fans grew used to her taking previously. She looks very comfortable on that private jet and in front of a CEO or powerful decision maker.

As for Oreana’s pull on Carter? I don’t anticipate much relevant action in that arena if only because everything involving this couple has been so peripheral so far.

The real action looks to be what takes place at the beginning and very end of this trailer:

Dutton Ranch Episode 6 Trailer

Last week, Rip talked to Austin about the old 10 Petal foreman, Wes. Wes was shot by Rob Will (Ep. 1) and his body was dumped on the Dutton Ranch for Rip to later discover (end of Ep. 2).

The takeaway is Rip now knows whose body he dumped in the mineshaft (aka the new Train Station) and he knows someone with the 10 Petal is responsible.

At the start of the trailer, we see him demanding answers from Joaquin, who knows exactly what happened. At the end we see Joaquin begging for his life. Rip usually gets what he’s after in these situations.

The big question is what Rip will do with this information. He’s pledged loyalty to Beulah who is also his wife’s business partner. Betraying her would get them both fired and in a town as small as Rio Paloma that would leave them without many options to rebuild.

I suspect the episode will draw us one step closer to what’s really going on at the Jackson’s ranch. Rob Will’s behavior and additional scenes shared by Paramount indicate they’re selling more than beef. It’s all building toward a very tense conclusion.
