Riley Green made his much-anticipated acting debut in Season 1 of the CBS hit TV show Marshals. He played Garrett, a troubled former Navy SEAL teammate of Kayce Dutton, who is played by Luke Grimes.
I never expected he would say that Tim McGraw inspired him to try his hand at acting and read for a part in the Yellowstone spinoff.
When he did, though, I asked if he has gotten the chance to tell McGraw face-to-face.
Green hung out with me on Taste of Country Nights, where he said of McGraw, “I haven’t, but I look forward to talking to him again. Hopefully we will cross paths soon, and I can tell him how inspirational it was for me to get to talk to him about it.”

When Will Riley Green Tell Tim McGraw He Is His Acting Inspiration?
The “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” singer says hopefully it’ll happen in the near future.
“He’s a lot like me, on the road and pretty busy, but also with his acting career which is far beyond what I’ve just kind of started doing, he’s probably spread pretty thin too.”
Will Riley Green Return to ‘Marshals’ for Season 2?
Although Marshals is confirmed to launch Season 2 in the fall of 2026, Green’s character, Garrett, was killed off in Episode 11, so it is unlikely he’ll appear in Season 2 unless it’s in flashback.

But Green tells me that hopefully he will get the chance to act again in the near future. He has already auditioned for more acting roles since his episodes of Marshals aired.
