Riding out a cooler, but still quiet Wednesday with lots of sunshine

Night ahead will be colder as well, but temperatures start to rebound Thursday

TRAFFIC IS BEING REROUTED. IS THAT 20 SEMIS THAT JUST DROVE BY THE HOUSE? ALL RIGHT, WELL, HERE’S A DOWNTOWN ALBUQUERQUE IN VIEW. WE’VE GOT A COOL DOWN RIGHT OUT. THIS THE LAST ONE THAT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT FOR QUITE SOME TIME THOUGH IT WILL BE MILDER AGAIN CERTAINLY BY THE WEEKEND. PROBABLY STAYING DRY UNTIL NEXT WEEK. WE DO HAVE RAIN AND SNOW CHANCES IN THE FORECAST, BUT THEY’RE TRENDING LOWER AND LOOKING LESS IMPRESSIVE THAN THEY DID 24 AND EVEN 48 HOURS AGO. IT’S THE NORTHWESTERLY FLOW AND A COLD FRONT THAT HAS ALREADY CLEARED ALL OF NEW MEXICO. ORANGE SHADED DRY AIR BUILDING IN BEHIND IT. SO IT’S GOING TO BE SUNSHINE FOR SEVERAL MORE DAYS. WE’RE JUST DOWN TEMPERATURE WISE, ESPECIALLY IN EASTERN NEW MEXICO THIS AFTERNOON. HIGHS IN THE 40S AND 50S ARE DOWN LIKE 10 TO 15 FROM THE DAY PREVIOUS. WE’RE DOWN LIKE FIVE DEGREES INTO CENTRAL AND WESTERN NEW MEXICO. MOST OF US SOMEWHERE IN THE 50S TO AROUND 60 DEGREES. WE ALL KIND OF GET THE SAME TEMPERATURES OUT THERE TODAY. NOTE IN EASTERN, SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO WILL LIKELY HOLD ON TO SOME BREEZINESS RIGHT ON THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT FOR CENTRAL AND NORTHERN NEW MEXICO, IT’S A DIP BELOW FREEZING. THIS COULD GO DOWN AS THE COLDEST NIGHT OF THE WEEK HERE. AFTER WE RIDE OUT A COLD THURSDAY MORNING. THE AFTERNOON SHOWS A TEMPERATURE REBOUND. LOOK AT THAT EASTERN NEW MEXICO. WE ARE BACK INTO THE 60S AFTER TODAY’S 40S AND 50S, AND WE’RE RIGHT AROUND 60 FOR ALBUQUERQUE, LOWER 60S FOR THE SOUTHWEST. TOMORROW. YET ANOTHER DAY WHERE, YOU KNOW, IT’S NOT THE SAME TEMPERATURES AS TODAY, BUT WE’RE ALL PRETTY CLOSE TO ONE ANOTHER SOMEWHERE IN THE 50S OR LOWER 60S. LOOKS LIKE THE BREEZES WILL COME IN LATE ON THURSDAY. SHOULD BE VERY WEATHER FRIENDLY. AFTERNOON AND FRIDAY TRENDS JUST A LITTLE BIT WARMER THAN OUR THURSDAY. WE’RE CREEPING UP TOWARDS 70 IN SPOTS HERE IN SOUTHERN AND EASTERN NEW MEXICO. COULD HAVE A LITTLE HIGH CLOUD COVER PUSHING IN LATE IN THE DAY. FRIDAY SHOULD BE ANOTHER DAY THOUGH, WHERE THOSE FORECAST WIND GUSTS COME IN. ON THE LIGHTER SIDE. JUST ANOTHER OUTDOOR FRONT IN THE AFTERNOON. HERE YOU GO. NORTHWEST NEW MEXICO, FOUR CORNERS AREA MID 50S TODAY. MID 20S TONIGHT. MID 50S AGAIN TOMORROW. LOOK AT THE UPPER 50S FRIDAY SATURDAY SUNDAY MAYBE INTO MONDAY AND TUESDAY TIME FRAME. WE’LL HAVE A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS TO TALK ABOUT. HERE’S SOUTHWEST NEW MEXICO. WE’RE IN THE LOWER 60S TODAY. WE MAY ACTUALLY BE DOWN A COUPLE DEGREES TOMORROW. AND THEN WE’RE BACK INTO THE LOWER 60S FRIDAY. WE’LL KEEP IN THE LOWER 60S INTO THE WEEKEND, AND WE’RE PROBABLY THE ONE CORNER OF THE STATE WITH THE BEST CHANCES AT SHOWERS HERE, KICKING IN ON A DAILY BASIS STARTING SUNDAY, MONDAY, TUESDAY. HERE’S SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO. WE’VE GOT HIGHS IN THE MIDDLE AND UPPER 50S THIS AFTERNOON. ALAMOGORDO AT 59 DEGREES. EXPECT TEMPERATURES BELOW FREEZING TONIGHT DOWN IN THE MID 20S AROUND ROSWELL, 62 AWAITS FOR TOMORROW. WE CREEP UP TOWARDS 70. BY SATURDAY MAYBE WE’LL HAVE A SHOWER CHANCE TO TALK ABOUT INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. THIS IS NORTHEAST NEW MEXICO. HIGHS ONLY IN THE 40S TO AROUND 50 DEGREES. IT’S A SIGNIFICANT DROP COMPARED TO YESTERDAY. AND WE LAND AT 22 TONIGHT IN VEGAS TOMORROW THOUGH, WE’RE BACK AT 61 LOWER 60S. HOLD INTO THE WEEKEND AND WE’LL KEEP THOSE HIGHS CLOSE TO 60 AS WE HEAD INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. MAYBE WE CATCH A SLIGHT CHANCE AT A SHOWER. IT’S ONLY GOING TO BE 40S AND LOWER 50S HERE IN NORTH CENTRAL NEW MEXICO, RUNNING COOLER THAN YESTERDAY. SANTA FE TONIGHT DOWN AT 24. WE GAIN FIVE DEGREES TOMORROW A COUPLE MORE INTO AND THROUGH THE WEEKEND SHOWER CHANCES ARE ONLY IN ABOUT THAT 10% RANGE EARLY NEXT WEEK FOR THE ALBUQUERQUE METRO. AFTER A 62 DEGREE HIGH YESTERDAY, WE’RE TURNING DOWN THE NUMBER A LITTLE BIT AT THE SUNPORT THAT 56, THOUGH THIS AFTERNOON IS STILL FOUR DEGREES ABOVE AVERAGE. LOOK AT TONIGHT’S LOW AT 30. THAT’S AS LOW AS WE GO FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. BACK TO HITTING 60 TOMORROW. LOWER 60S BY FRIDAY. AND THOSE LOWER 60S HOLD INTO AND THROUGH THE WEEKEND.

Watch for some easterly wind gusts to kick up a little this morning, especially near the mountains and I-40 corridor, as a cold front did work through the state overnight. Other than a slight chance of morning flurries up around the Raton Pass area, there is no moisture with the front, so we still expect sunshine today. Afternoon temperatures will be the coolest of the week and down 10-15 degrees out in eastern New Mexico compared to yesterday.Tonight will be a clear sky night and also probably the coldest of the week with most of us below freezing, but once we ride out the cold morning, temperatures will start to rebound on Thursday – especially eastern New Mexico – where we will get those 10-15 degrees back and see highs climb into the 60s. Thursday will be another day with lots of sunshine too.Looking ahead, Friday and the weekend will keep the mild temperatures around, however we will start to see more cloud cover move in and eventually have a slight chance of rain showers by Sunday, but mainly just for southwest and southern New Mexico. On Monday and Tuesday, we will still have the mild temperatures and still some small chances of rain and mountain snow, but there does not appear to be any significant rounds of precipitation coming at this time. We will continue to monitor.
