Report: THE AMITY AFFLICTION In Debt, Split With AHREN STRINGER Kinda Messy

Date:

Things are not great in the world of The Amity Affliction. It all started when the band parted ways with bassist Ahren Stringer back in February 2025. Stringer claimed he was kicked out of the band rather than it being amicable, and it turns out there’s a lot more to that statement.

In a new report from Blunt, it seems The Amity Affliction was carrying around $646,000 AUD in debt last year (or about $456,000 USD). This led to a formal debt restructuring to help alleviate that burden, though Stringer still remains onboard as a co-owner and director of the company behind The Amity Affliction – and that’s still the case today, despite him no longer being in the band.

Blunt further reports that the documentation they obtained shows the band owes a large sum to the Australian Taxation Office. Part of the restructuring plan was created specifically to help pay off that debt, with both Stringer and frontman Joel Birch signing off on the matter.

“To manage that, both Birch and Stringer signed off on a restructuring plan that will see the company make regular payments over nearly three years,” reads a portion of the report. “That kind of setup doesn’t suggest a band on the verge of disappearing, but it does suggest one that doesn’t have the flexibility to make big financial moves quickly.”

As it stands, Stringer is still out of The Amity Affliction – just not out of the business side of things. And given the situation, I’d imagine a reconciliation is probably very far off.
