‘Ransom Canyon’ Reveals Season 2 Premiere Date

Date:

Ransom Canyon Season 2 is coming to Netflix sooner than fans might have expected, and the show has shared some first-look photos from the upcoming season.

Will There Be a Ransom Canyon Season 2?

Yes. Netflix confirmed another season in June of 2025, not long after Season 1 concluded.

When Will Ransom Canyon Return for Season 2?

Deadline reports that Ransom Canyon is set to return to Netflix for Season 2 beginning on July 23, 2026.

What Will Happen in Season 2 of Ransom Canyon?

The small Texas town of Ransom was in danger of being taken over by developers as Season 1 of Ransom Canyon came to a close. Season 2 will explore more of that, as well as the relationship between its two principal characters.

According to Deadline, the logline describes Season 2 of Ransom Canyon, “Season 2 will pick up six months after the events of the first season, with rancher Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel) fighting to reclaim his legacy after being unseated as trustee of his family’s Double K Ranch, while musician Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly) must decide if her heart truly belongs in the small town she once tried to outrun or in the fast-paced world of New York City. Are they star-crossed lovers, or fated to be together? In Ransom Canyon, true love stories are messy, complicated, and always worth the wait.”

Season 1 ended with Quinn accepting a six-month job in New York City, which proved one more complication in her relationship with Staten.

“We would need to [have a time jump] because I don’t want to do anything in New York,” Blair told TV Insider.

“I think we would probably do that because she says, ‘I’m going to go away for six months.’ So the idea right now, although nothing’s set in stone, is that we would do at least a six-month time jump.”

What Is Ransom Canyon?

IMDb describes Ransom Canyon as a “romance-fueled family drama and contemporary Western saga that charts the intersecting lives and loves of three ranching families set against the sweeping tundras and rolling rivers of Texas Hill Country.”

Ransom Canyon centers on Kirkland and the long friendship between him and local dancehall owner O’Grady. She’s a concert pianist who has returned to her hometown in Texas after a career setback shattered her self-confidence.

They’ve been friends since high school, but Kirkland and O’Grady developed into an on-and-off romance with a lot of old baggage during Season 1.

Kirkland and local business owners were also fending off unwanted overtures from an energy company that wanted to acquire his ranch, as well as controlling financial interests in Ransom’s most important local businesses.

The company was getting underhanded help from some of the town’s most prominent residents, including Kirkland’s father, Samuel Kirkland, a senator who milks his office to help leverage his financial vision for the town and how best to exploit its resources.

Who Stars in Ransom Canyon Season 2?

Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly are set to return in their roles as Kirkland and O’Grady.

Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, Jack Schumacher and Marianly Tejada are also part of the cast for Ransom Canyon Season 2, and Casey W. Johnson has been promoted to a series regular for the upcoming season.

Ransom Canyon has also added Ben Robson and Heidi Engerman in recurring roles for Season 2. According to Deadline, Robson will play a man named Oliver, a possible new love interest for Quinn, while Engerman plays a character named Sydney.

Patricia Clarkson will guest star as Claire O’Grady, Quinn’s mother.

Former Reba star Steve Howey is also coming to Season 2 of Ransom Canyon. He will play the recurring role of Levi, the half-brother of Staten Kirkland.

Deadline also reports that Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner will not return as series regulars for Season 2 of Ransom Canyon.

When Does Production Begin on Ransom Canyon Season 2?

Variety reported that Ransom Canyon had begun production on Season 2 in early October of 2025.

Netflix Life reported that Season 2 production had wrapped in January of 2026.

Both Duhamel and Blair had previously let it slip that the show’s creative team had already been in the writer’s room coming up with ideas for a second season, even before it was confirmed.

Production for Ransom Canyon Season 2 took place at Netflix Studios Albuquerque in New Mexico. The production utilized solar power, geothermal heating and cooling and more to lower production costs and reduce the series’ carbon footprint.

Ransom Canyon is based on a popular series of books by Jodi Thomas, and while Season 1 did not follow the books exactly, fans can still look to the source material to find out what might happen next.
