Pleasant stretch of fall weather for much of the week, watching Tropical Storm Vance to enhance late-week rain chances.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
We are still seeing some scattered showers and thunderstorms over parts of East-Central and Southeast New Mexico this morning, and there is also some patchy dense fog being reported in areas around Santa Fe and the East Mountains and up towards Las Vegas. Remember to slow down in the presence of fog and increase your following distance on the roadways to help avoid accidents and stay safe. As we head into the afternoon it looks like most of the state will be dry with sunshine, but we still expect one more round of showers and thunderstorms to develop and roll across the south-central and southeast part of the state.
Starting Tuesday, we have a few-day stretch of quiet skies paired with fall-like temperatures. It should be a very pleasant run and a chance let all the water soak up and run off. We are watching Tropical Storm Vance off the west coast of Mexico though, and Vance is forecast to move north and make land fall later in the week on perhaps Thursday evening or Thursday night. Moisture surging north out ahead on Vance will result in rain chances returning to the area later in the day Thursday, especially into Southern New Mexico.
Then with the tropical moisture in place, a series of weather systems passing by from the west will keep the chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms around on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. At this point it is difficult to attempt to time out these rounds of showers and storms, but there is the potential to possibly time out a break between rounds of storms for Saturday evening for the Trick or Treaters, it would take a little luck for that to occur though. After temperatures trend back up a little above average for much of the week, it will be a drop back below average late in the week and this weekend when the rain chances return.
