The singer took time off in June after a serious infection that led to sepsis landed him in the ICU. He returned to the stage on July 14. But a week later, on Tuesday (July 21), he revealed that he still wasn’t feeling well enough to perform.

“After my first shows back, it became clear that I came back too soon,” Foster says in a social media statement.

“My recovery has taken a setback,” he added. “Thanks for your patience and words of support. I’ll see you back on the road as soon as I’m able.”

What’s Wrong With Radney Foster?

Though Foster is on the mend, he’s still dealing with lingering issues related to his sepsis bout and hospital stay.

“I’m still recovering from sepsis. My energy just isn’t where it needs to be yet,” he says, “and I’m dealing with some balance issues that make traveling and performing unsafe.”

That means he needs to extend his break from the road — and Foster admitted that he hates having to deliver that news.

“That’s a hard thing to admit, but I’ve learned I have to listen to my doctors and my body,” he continues. “I’m going to spend the next couple of months focused on healing so I can come back healthy enough to give you the shows you deserve.”

When Will Radney Foster Return to Touring?

As of now, Foster’s next scheduled show is on Oct. 2 in Livingston, Mont. He has a handful of dates on the books for the end of 2026 and early 2027.
