UNFRIENDLY WILDLIFE AS THEIR EMILY MAHER REPORTS. GOOD BOY. SO GOOD. WHEN YOU MEET TUCKER. HE IS SO LAZY. FOR A PUPPY, IT’S HARD NOT TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THE SIX MONTH OLD PUP. HE WANTS TO CUDDLE AND WATCH MOVIES WITH US. IT CAME AS QUITE A SHOCK WHEN TUCKER BECAME THE TARGET OF A CANADA GOOSE, BECAUSE HIS PERSONALITY IS SO HARMLESS, AND HE NEVER PAID ATTENTION. I EVEN LOOKED AT THE GEESE. YOU CAN SEE TUCKER’S DAD FENDING OFF THE BIRD AS HE PULLS THE PUP AWAY DURING AN AFTERNOON WALK NEAR LOVEJOY WHARF IN BOSTON A FEW WEEKS AGO. DIDN’T EXPECT HIM TO ACTUALLY RUN AT US. I MEAN, YOU SEE THE GEESE ON THE ESPLANADE ALL THE TIME, AND YOU DON’T EXPECT THEM TO COME AT YOU. BUT THEN, YOU KNOW, JUST GOT TO SAVE THE LITTLE BOY. AND I JUST SO HAPPENED TO CATCH IT ON CAMERA. MEGAN O’NEILL WAS ON HER WAY HOME FROM WORK WHEN SHE STOPPED TO TAKE A VIDEO OF THE FAMILY FLOCK. I THOUGHT THEY WERE SUPER CUTE, SO I JUST STARTED FILMING THEM BECAUSE I WAS JUST GOING TO SEND A VIDEO TO MY FRIENDS, AND THEN IT JUST WENT SOUTH, LIKE IMMEDIATELY. SHE POSTED THE SHORT CLIP TO TIKTOK, AND THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I WOKE UP, IT HAD ABSOLUTELY BLOWN UP. NOW, WITH CLOSE TO 7 MILLION VIEWS, TUCKER AND HIS ATTACK HAVE GONE VIRAL. WE HAD KIND OF COOLED DOWN ENOUGH AND JUST THOUGHT IT WAS HILARIOUS. LIKE I WAS CRACKING UP LAUGHING. HAD TO TELL PEOPLE AT WORK WHAT I WAS LAUGHING ABOUT. YOU CAN OFTEN FIND THE GEESE AND THEIR GOSLINGS WALKING AROUND THE AREA. NOW TUCKER AND HIS PARENTS OPT TO TAKE A DIFFERENT ROUTE TO GET AROUND. TUCKER WAS FINE IMMEDIATELY AFTER WE WERE BOTH TRAUMATIZED, BUT HE’S DOING GREAT AND EVERYBODY’S OKAY NOW. TUCKER IS THE TALK OF THE TOWN. EVERYBODY LIKES TO SAY HI. GETTING PETS ALL THE TIME AND STAYING FAR FROM HIS NOT SO FRIENDLY AVIAN NEIGHBORS. WE THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY BECAUSE WE KNOW OUR PUPPY IS OKAY, BUT DEFINITELY SCARY. AND WE’VE BEEN AVOIDI
Puppy wins hearts after viral goose attack caught on video
A 6-month-old puppy named Tucker became the subject of a viral TikTok video after a Canada goose charged at him during a walk near Lovejoy Wharf in Boston a few weeks ago. Tucker’s owner described the pup as harmless and laid-back. “He is so lazy for a puppy,” his owner Kennan Gawlowicz said. “He wants to cuddle and watch movies with us.” The attack came as a surprise to Tucker’s family. “Because his personality is so harmless, and he never paid attention, like, even looked at the geese,” Gawlowicz said. Video footage shows Gawlowicz pulling the puppy away from the aggressive bird. “I didn’t expect them to actually run at us. You see the geese on the esplanade all the time, and you don’t expect them to come at you. And then, you know, just got to save the little boy,” Brian Lo, Tucker’s dad, said. Meaghan O’Neill, who was on her way home from work, stopped to film the geese before the incident unfolded. “I just thought they were super cute and started filming them because I was going to send a video to my friends. And then it just went south immediately,” O’Neill said. She later posted the clip to TikTok. “The next morning, when I woke up, it had absolutely blown up,” O’Neill said. The video now has close to 7 million views. “We had kind of cooled down enough and just thought it was hilarious, and I was cracking up laughing, had to tell people at work what I was laughing about,” Gawlowicz said. While Tucker was unharmed, his owner admitted, “I think we were both traumatized. But he’s doing great, and everybody’s OK.” The geese and their goslings are often seen walking around the area, but Tucker’s family now avoids the spot. “We thought it was funny because our puppy’s OK, but definitely scary and been avoiding the area ever since,” Gawlowicz said. Now, Tucker is a local favorite, receiving pets from passersby while steering clear of his feathered foes. “Everybody likes to say hi,” Gawlowicz said.
