Austin’s relentless trio Portrayal of Guilt are back with their fourth studio album, …Beginning of the End, out on April 24 via Run For Cover Records.
The first taste of the album arrives with lead singles “Ecstasy” and “Human Terror”, both available across streaming platforms. “Ecstasy” is paired with a sinister official video directed by Craig Murray, while “Human Terror” comes with a striking visualizer, offering a glimpse into the album’s expansive, genre-defying direction.
Since their debut Let Pain Be Your Guide, Portrayal of Guilt have forged a singular musical ecosystem, blending hardcore, black metal, and screamo with imaginative textures. Subsequent releases We Are Always Alone and CHRISTFUCKER LPs cemented their reputation for fearless experimentation, nodding to industrial, post-metal, sludge, and post-hardcore. Recent EPs and projects, including Devil Music and CHRISTFUCKER II, expanded into classical and EBM/goth realms, proving the trio’s appetite for continual evolution.
Recorded and mixed by Phillip Odom between March and June 2025, and mastered by Will Yip, …Beginning of the End is the band’s third release with Run For Cover, and the result of eight years of consistent experimentation and growth.
To celebrate the album, Portrayal of Guilt will embark on a headlining North American spring tour, kicking off with a hometown show at Mohawk in Austin on May 9. The run will feature support from pageninetynine, Taraneh, Halloween, and The Infinity Ring on select dates. Get your tickets here.
