Police release new information in deadly Las Cruces crash

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) – New information has been released about a crash in Las Cruces that resulted in one death and 14 injuries last month. The 69-year-old driver of a Ford Explorer says she mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake as she pulled into a parking space in front of a Savers thrift store. Pamela Kaye Nelson, 67, was killed in the crash.

The Las Cruces Fire Department released the ages and genders of 12 people who received medical attention from fire crews that day. The other two victims declined to provide their ages or were treated by other emergency medical responders.

Of the 12 injured who gave their age, 11 of them were women and another was a 70-year-old man. The women range in age from 26 to 88. Eight of the injured are older than 60. Two people who were injured were employees at the store.

Savers has since reopened since the crash.
