Albuquerque Police Department arrested a suspect in the overnight murder of a man in downtown Albuquerque. Edwin Sanders is accused of fatally shooting Estevan Gomez around 4 a.m. Saturday near 3rd St. and Copper Ave.According to authorities, Gomez and a co-worker left a nightclub downtown looking for their car. They mistook a vehicle for theirs and attempted to get into it, but it was locked.Sanders saw the two and accused them of trying to break in. Police report Gomez and his co-worker tried to explain and began to walk away. When they found their car, Sanders followed them with a handgun and demanded they give him money.Gomez attempted to drive away, Sanders fired into the back window, killing Gomez.Police tracked down and arrested Sanders at his home.Sanders is charged with an open count of murder, attempted armed robbery, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, firearms or destructive devices, and transportation or possession by certain persons.
