Pittsburgh Steelers star DK Metcalf takes swing at fan during sideline altercation

Date:

Pittsburgh Steelers receiver DK Metcalf took a swing at a Detroit Lions fan Sunday in a moment the NFL will scrutinize for potential punishment.

The interaction took place during the first half, when a fan in a blue wig was seen leaning over a railing near the Steelers’ sideline, appearing to talk with Metcalf. Metcalf then shoved a closed fist upward toward the fan’s face, and the fan pulled back, raising his arms.

The NFL reviews matters such as interactions between fans and players.

Metcalf stayed in the game.

His 808 receiving yards this season leads Pittsburgh and ranked 22nd highest in the NFL entering Sunday.

The league declined to level punishment in a different incident between a fan and players this season. In September, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson shoved a Buffalo Bills fan who had hit the helmet of Jackson and a teammate.
