Phoenix area weather forecast by 12News

Excessive heat and red flag warnings issued for Arizona, here’s the latest information for your forecast.

We’re closing Father’s Day weekend with a 12News Weather Impact Alert Day. Excessive Heat Warnings continue until 8:00 pm Sunday for the valley, most of Maricopa and Pinal Counties, and east toward Globe, Safford, and Tucson. Make sure everyone, including pets, stays cool and hydrated.

While not quite record territory, look for Sunday valley highs up to 112 degrees and high-country highs in the 80s and 90s.

Red Flag Warnings are posted for all of northern Arizona – from Mohave County, through the high-country, Prescott,  White Mountains, and the Navajo Nation. Bone dry conditions combined with strong southwest winds, low relative humidity, and ready-to-burn fuels continue to increase the fire danger.

The only temperature relief we’ll find is on Monday through Wednesday, when highs return to near normal.

Even though we are now officially in Monsoon 2024, sunny, dry weather will dominate. The White Mountains and Navajo Nation will see a glimmer of hope on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. A piece of energy could help trigger some isolated showers and storms in the high deserts of northeast Arizona by the end of the week. It’s not looking like a washout at all, but we will continue to watch as we get closer.

Additional 12News Weather Impact Alert Days will likely be issued on Friday and Saturday, as valley highs will approach 115 degrees.
