Painted Wagon Fire burns near Wittman, Arizona

The fire is estimated to be 50-100 acres, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management said.

WITTMANN, Ariz. — A wind-driven fire near the Whispering Ranch community west of Wittman is burning through grass and brush, officials with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management said. 

The Painted Wagon Fire is about 18 miles west of Wittman, about 50-100 acres, and is moving northwest, officials said.

Hand crews and fire engines with the department are fighting the flames. Additional support has been requested, officials said. There is no word on what caused the fire.
