One person has been arrested and charged following a fatal shooting on Sunday night in Roswell. Roswell police say Willie Fuentes is accused of shooting and killing Roman Chavez following an argument and confrontation between the two men.According to police, on Sunday night Fuentes rode his bicycle to visit a relative on the 400 block of West 16th Street in Roswell. Police say while Fuentes was inside the residence of a relative, Chavez kicked down the bicycle that belonged to Fuentes. That’s when police say Fuentes came out of the home and shot at Chavez. Chavez was not struck by the first round of gunfire.Police say Chavez then got a gun and pointed it at Fuentes. Both men then fired at each other during a confrontation. Chavez was struck by gunfire, Fuentes was not. Police say they were called to the 400 block of West 16th street around 7 p.m. on Sunday night. When they arrived, they found Chavez unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his torso. Fuentes remained at the scene of the shooting and was taken into custody during the investigation.Fuentes was booked into the Chaves County Detention Center and is facing charges of voluntary manslaughter.
