No relief in sight as energy experts predict record high gas prices

Gas prices have continued to surge across the United States. According to AAA, the national average as of Friday was $4.47 per gallon.
Energy experts said there are no signs that the climbing costs will slow down. “Easily we’ll see $5 a gallon on gasoline,” energy expert Ed Hirs said. “We’ll have spot shortages across the United States. We could see some pricing well in excess of $6 a gallon, $7 a gallon for gasoline.”
The rising cost of oil is the primary factor behind the increase, driven by conflict between the U.S. and Iran, along with disruptions in the Middle East.
Diesel prices also increased alongside gasoline.
Officials at Brown University estimate that Americans have paid more than $100 billion more for gasoline and diesel than they would have without the conflict. This amounts to more than $825 for every U.S. household.
