New Mexico has made quite a name for itself in the movie and TV business, with Albuquerque and Santa Fe playing a major role, but at the same New Mexico State University’s animation program has achieved national recognition as one of the best places in the U.S. to learn the art of animation. Edward Bakshi, an instructor in the NMSU animation department, said their reputation has attracted both talented students and professors.”The publicity with our ranking has just helped bring recruitment in, and we’ve just been adding professors over the years, so our student-to-faculty ratio is really good. And we offer hands-on learning,” Bakshi said. “They’re not reading manuals and taking tests and just getting lectured.
