Nine Inch Nails have returned with a surprise release, unveiling Tron Ares: Divergence – a companion piece to last year’s acclaimed Tron Ares soundtrack. The original film score marked the band’s first major project in several years and earned a GRAMMY Award for Best Rock Song with the track “As Alive As You Need Me To Be.”
Released today, February 27, Divergence collects previously unreleased tracks alongside inventive remixes from electronic heavyweights including Boys Noize, Arca, Mark Pritchard, Chilly Gonzales, and Danny L Harle.
The tracklist spans 20 compositions, blending atmospheric instrumentals, industrial heaviness, and radical reinterpretations of songs from the original score. Highlights include the explosive opener “Converge,” Arca’s haunting take on the GRAMMY-winning “As Alive As You Need Me To Be,” and Boys Noize’s remix trio of “A Question of Trust,” “Ghost in the Machine,” and “What Have You Done?”
Other notable inclusions feature Lanark Artefax, Jack Dangers, Pixel Grip, The Dare, Schwefelgelb, and Working Men’s Club, each lending their distinctive sonic signature to reinterpretations of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross‘ cinematic soundscapes. Tron Ares: Divergence runs as follows:
