Caught up in the moment? Justified expression of superfandom? You be the judge.

In August, New York City parents and lifelong Knicks fans Yvonne Gonzalez-Bradford and Vance Bradford named their newborn son “Knickson Fyve” in honor of the team’s recent NBA championship.

The name references how many games it took the Knicks to defeat the San Antonio Spurs in the seven-game series: Knicks in 5.

The viral rallying cry has appeared in arena chants, as a clever greeting among diehards and now on a birth certificate.

It’s not just the Bradfords who have been inspired by the Knicks ending their 53-year championship drought.

The City Reporter, a local outlet, reported that data from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene showed that babies named Jalen more than doubled between March and early October, seemingly in honor of Jalen Brunson, the team’s captain and All-NBA point guard.
