New York City will get three mega-casinos after a state commission awarded licenses to Mets owner Steve Cohen and two other proposals to open glitzy gambling parlors in a city that has largely been off limits.
Cohen and Hard Rock have proposed building a casino next to the Mets’ Citi Field in Queens. The other two projects that were approved are a proposal by Bally’s to develop a casino next to its golf course in the Bronx and a proposal by Genting Group, which owns Resorts World New York City at a racetrack in Queens, to change that location focused on slots into a full-fledged casino.
