
The U.S. Forest Service of Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands is reporting the start of a new fire in the Water Canyon Mesa within the Magdalena Mountains.Officials say the Wet Weather Fire, which is currently 25 acres, may be visible west of NM 60 and from I-25 west of Socorro. However, officials say the fire is currently not a threat to any communities and there are no evacuations in effect. According to the Forest Service, the health and safety of the public and firefighters are always first priority, and they are advising the public to avoid the Wet Weather Fire area of the Magdalena Ranger District. Resources are currently on scene from the U.S. Forest Service and New Mexico Forestry Division.
