New Mexico State Fair Day 4 Recap

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
The New Mexico State Fair, now in its 88th year, is underway at Expo New Mexico, bringing 11 days of rides, food and family traditions to visitors.

“My favorite thing at the fair today is probably the rides. I just love the adrenaline, and it’s just so fun,” Mercedez Velazquez, a fairgoer, said.
Fairgoers have been enjoying a variety of attractions, including meeting animals at the petting farm, admiring a 100-year-old car, and dancing with performers on stilts.
The smell of roasting green chilies along Main Street led to conversations about favorite fair experiences.
Isaac Alatriste, working at his grandfather’s green chile stand, expressed his thoughts.
“Probably seeing all the different cars and all the cars that they’ve had going on for the past couple of days,” he said, while pointing to Main Street where cars were set to drive by.
Zina Crum, owner of Zina’s Blue Corn Cafe, has been part of the fair for over 20 years. Her favorite part is seeing repeat customers enjoy her frybread.
“It’s a tradition for a lot of families to visit,” Crum said. “Some come every day.”
She takes off from her regular, full-time job 11 days a year to make this work. Crum works alongside her family members in the same vendor spot year after year.
With so much to experience, visitors are finding plenty to enjoy at the New Mexico State Fair.
