New Mexico National Guard rescues woman trapped in flooding in Hatch

New Mexico National Guard teams are positioned around the state as they continue their flood response.
On Tuesday, officials assisted local first responders with a vehicle recovery in Veguita and the rescue of a woman trapped in an arroyo near Hatch, while other teams conducted reconnaissance and remained ready for additional missions.
In Hatch, a New Mexico National Guard high-water vehicle responded alongside local emergency medical and fire personnel after a woman became trapped in her vehicle in an arroyo.
Fire personnel were able to rescue the woman from her vehicle and bring her aboard the Guard’s Light Medium Tactical Vehicle.
The woman was then transferred to the Hatch Fire Station, and no further assistance was required.
A New Mexico National Guard team also responded to a vehicle trapped in mud in Veguita after two drivers and their vehicles became stuck in mud. Officials say the recovery was completed successfully with no additional assistance required.
Guard teams say they remain prepared to respond to additional requests for assistance as weather conditions develop overnight.
