Fire crews in New Mexico were kept busy on Saturday, as fireworks celebrations produced several brush fires across the state.Albuquerque was particularly busy, as the Fire Marshal’s Office reported more than 300 fireworks calls on Saturday. Those calls led to over 60 cease and desist orders being issued. It’s not known whether citations were issued for any of the fireworks calls.Albuquerque Fire Rescue crews responded to one major structure fire and two wildland fires on Saturday, including one bosque fire and one fire in the Foothills. It is not known at this time whether fireworks played a role in those fires.Crews in Sunland Park responded to seven different brush fires on Saturday night, all of which were connected to fireworks. The most serious of those fires burned around an acre of land on the 2000 block of Boy Scout Lane.Increased patrols are expected across the state through the remainder of the Fourth of July weekend.
