New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence expands with new building

Date:

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The state’s leader in helping domestic violence victims is expanding with a new office. The New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence is a collaborative of providers from across the state that helps those suffering from domestic violence. The coalition said they have seen an increase in people staying in their shelters in recent years, but less funding.

They said the increase in space allows all 32 state partners to have an area where they can provide better care. “And so we need to be able to meet those needs, and we need our communities to resource them in a way that can support them in the work that they do,” said Mary Ellen Garcia, CEO, New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Coalition workers said this is the first time they have been in an in-person office since the COVID-19 pandemic.
