NASCAR Driver Wins Race, Then Falls Off Roof of His Car

Date:

On Saturday (Aug. 9) at the Watkins Glen International Speedway, 19-year-old rookie Connor Zilisch won the NASCAR Xfinity Series Mission 200, then proceeded to fall off the roof of his car in the winner’s circle.

It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt, and Zilisch learned that the hard way.

Coming off of the high of winning the whole dang race, Zilisch drove into the winner’s circle, ready to celebrate with his crew, family and friends.

But before that could happen, he had to exit the car, which in NASCAR you have to do out of the window of your vehicle.

Watch the moment below. As Zilisch has his behind on the window sill of the driver’s side, he then takes his right foot and steps onto the roof of his number 88 car while slinging a drink around on everyone.

As he gets his right foot onto the roof, his left misses the window sill or gets caught up, and next thing you know, he falls directly onto his collarbone, breaking it.

What was a momentous occasion for the rookie soon turned ugly, and now he has an injury that will have him off the racetrack for at least 6-8 weeks.

Imagine the embarrassment the rookie felt as he went to celebrate his seventh career win in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, only to go viral for the wrong reason.
