NASCAR Championship Weekend to return to Phoenix in 2025

Phoenix Raceway has hosted NASCAR Championship Weekend every year since 2020.

AVONDALE, Ariz. — Phoenix continues to attract the biggest events in the sports world with NASCAR announcing that Championship Weekend will return to Phoenix Raceway for a sixth consecutive year in 2025.

NASCAR goes through an annual selection process to pick the championship host but as Phoenix Raceway President Latasha Causey explains, the experience in the Valley has been undeniable for drivers and fans.

“It’s a never-ending campaign. I try to make it as hard as possible to remove Championship from Phoenix,” Causey said. “Our fans continue to come back to Phoenix Raceway. We have sold out all of our last for this year will be the fifth consecutive year of us having it.”

The one-mile asphalt oval track in Avondale was added to NASCAR’s premier series schedule in 1988 and has largely served as the penultimate stop of the Cup Series season. From 2002-2019, NASCAR’s finale was held at Homestead-Miami Speedway but Causey says the weather in November makes Phoenix an ideal market for Championship Weekend.

“We have a state-of-the-art facility here at Phoenix Raceway. It was renovated back in 2018 and it’s still like a brand new track so our fans love that,” Causey said. “You have our campers that are here for a whole week but then racing starts on Fridays and for championships specifically, we have all four series.”

NASCAR’s 2024 Cup Series Championship Race is set for Sunday, November 10. You can watch all the action on 12News.
