A man wanted on a murder charge was taken into custody Saturday in Albuquerque, after he was spotted by a city bus driver.

A spokesperson for Albuquerque Police says 36-year-old Juan Maestas was arrested near the transit center at Central Avenue and Unser Boulevard. He is suspected of shooting and killing Tavis Kimbrough Friday at a bus stop near Marquette Avenue NW and 2nd Street NW.

According to police, officers approached Maestas at the transit center around 7:40 a.m. Saturday. He walked toward an arroyo, then ran toward a nearby neighborhood before police used less-lethal means to subdue Maestas.

Police say Maestas was armed with a gun at the time of his arrest.

Maestas is also a suspect in a shooting that happened Wednesday at a Maverik gas station near Montgomery Boulevard NE and Carlisle Boulevard NE.

Maestas has been charged with murder and tampering with evidence. He is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
