MONSTROSITY Returns With Ferocious New Album Screams From Beneath The Surface

Date:

Emerging from the shadowy depths of the extreme metal underground, Monstrosity is back to reaffirm their dominance with Screams From Beneath The Surface, set for release March 13 via Metal Blade Records. This marks the band’s first full-length in seven years, showcasing their signature combination of aggression, technical precision, and uncompromising intensity.

Led by drummer, founder, and primary songwriter Lee Harrison, the band’s lineup is stronger than ever, featuring long-standing guitarist Matt Barnes, the triumphant return of original bassist Mark Van Erp, and new vocalist Ed Webb (ex-Massacre). Webb‘s guttural, visceral delivery injects fresh energy while honoring the brutal death metal legacy Monstrosity is known for.

The album’s ten tracks exemplify the band’s mastery of extreme metal. Standout cuts like “Banished To The Skies” and “The Atrophied” deliver bone-crushing riffs, intricate drumming, and vivid lyrical imagery, while “The Dark Aura” and “Fortunes Engraved In Blood” showcase Monstrosity‘s ability to evolve, adding new sonic dimensions without sacrificing ferocity. Each track underscores the band’s technical prowess and unwavering commitment to the genre.

Production for Screams From Beneath The Surface was split across multiple studios to ensure sonic perfection. Drums, bass, and mixing were handled at Audiohammer Studios with producer Jason Suecof (The Black Dahlia Murder, Deicide), while vocals, guitars, and mastering were completed at the legendary Morrisound Studios, reuniting with producer Jim Morris alongside Mark Prator and BJ Ramone. The album’s striking cover art, crafted by Timbul Cahyono, is fully hand-drawn, reflecting the raw authenticity of Monstrosity‘s music.

Ahead of the album release, Monstrosity has dropped the first single, “The Colossal Rage”. The track delivers an immediate, punishing impact, with Webb’s monumental vocals, Van Erp‘s relentless bass, and Barnes‘ scorching lead guitar work. Harrison‘s original themes form the backbone of the song, elevated through collaboration with Barnes, resulting in a devastating musical assault designed to overwhelm listeners.
