
A surge of monsoon moisture is bringing daily chances for rain and storms this week across New Mexico. Heavy rain will bring a risk of flash flooding each afternoon.
Showers and storms developed Monday afternoon along and west of the central mountain chain. A few storms dropped heavy rain, bringing Flash Flood Warnings to parts of southern New Mexico this afternoon. Showers and storms are sticking around parts of New Mexico tonight, bringing more heavy rain and Flash Flood Warnings. Some rain will stick around into Tuesday morning in southern parts of New Mexico.
It will be cloudier day Tuesday with the increase in monsoon moisture. Storms will develop first across the mountain peaks again early Tuesday afternoon. More showers and storms will develop Tuesday afternoon. Nearly all of New Mexico will have a chance at rain and thunderstorms tomorrow. A Flood Watch goes into effect for a large part of the state with a threat of heavy rainfall both on and off burn scar areas. Rain will likely stick around parts of central New Mexico Tuesday night before clearing up Wednesday morning.
Wednesday and Thursday will continue this stormy monsoon pattern across New Mexico with more afternoon showers and storms. Nearly the entire state will again see a chance for rain, expect for far southeast parts of New Mexico. All storms could drop heavy rain as they will also be slow moving storms. Drier weather will start to move in Friday, but there is still a chance for scattered storms.
This weekend will start to bring in some much drier air again with a few isolated storms Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will heat up again across New Mexico with the drier air and more sunshine.
