According to a new report from Vital Vegas, Metallica may be gearing up to take over the Las Vegas Sphere with a potential residency slated for fall 2026. Which isn’t the Super Bowl, but it is pretty damn cool.
While no official confirmation has been made, sources close to the site suggest that a deal is close to being finalized. Now the real question is what they’re gonna play on the giant movie screen behind them for the whole show.
“We’re hearing Metallica could play Sphere in the fall of 2026,” Vital Vegas wrote, “but specifics haven’t been confirmed or announced yet. For fans, even a rumor of a Metallica residency at Sphere is akin to having an electric eel shoved down one’s pants, but in a good way.”
Opened in 2023, The Sphere features the world’s largest spherical structure, standing 366 feet tall and 516 feet wide, with an exterior fully wrapped in a dazzling LED display that can project dynamic visuals visible from miles away. Inside, it boasts a 16K resolution wraparound screen and immersive audio technology that frankly looks cool as hell.
Metallica holds the unique distinction of being the first—and to date only—band to have performed live on all seven continents, completing the feat with their one‑off Freeze ‘Em All concert at the Carlini Base in Antarctica on December 8, 2013. At this point, just let ’em play The Sphere – they’ve played everywhere else.
