
An inmate at the Metropolitan Detention Center was found dead on Saturday at a halfway house in Albuquerque.A spokesperson for MDC said 45-year-old Andrew Witt was discovered at the facility Saturday afternoon. First responders attempted to revive Witt but were unsuccessful.According to MDC, Witt was sentenced to the jail’s Community Custody Program on March 24. Some inmates are placed in the program while they wait for their court case to be resolved, or if a judge decides to place an inmate there rather than in the general population at MDC.Officials at the scene believe Witt died between 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Saturday. His death is now under investigation. A cause of death has not been determined.
