Wild video shows hit-and-run crash on Florida highway that killed man, sent semi-truck tumbling
A 34-year-old man from New Smyrna Beach, Florida, was killed in a three-vehicle hit-and-run crash on Interstate 75 on Monday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.The crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. near Mile Marker 220 in Manatee County, leaving one person dead and another injured. The driver of the third vehicle fled the scene.According to FHP, a dark-colored Mustang entered the center lane from the left, colliding with the front of an SUV.The impact caused the SUV to move over and enter the right lane, directly into the path of a semi-truck, troopers said.As a result, the semi-truck shot across the southbound lanes of I-75 and overturned onto its right side. The semi-truck came to a stop partially in the grass median, blocking all three southbound lanes.The driver of the semi-truck suffered fatal injuries, FHP said.Video shows the driver of the Mustang briefly stopped after the collisions but fled the scene southbound on I-75. The driver of the Mustang was described as a “stocky male, wearing a gray hoodie,” FHP said. The Mustang has rear louvers and possibly a stick camera on the rear. The FHP Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash.
