Ever since their formation, Sheffield bruisers Malevolence have done things their own way. Built on authenticity, loyalty and a reputation for bedlam-inducing live shows, the quintet have risen from local heroes to one of the U.K.’s most vital heavy acts.
Now, without warning, they’ve kicked off a brand-new chapter. Today, Malevolence surprise-released “Silhouette,” a striking new single that doubles as their first fully independent offering via their freshly launched imprint, MLVLTD Music.
While Malevolence have flirted with melody before, “Silhouette” finds them stepping further outside their comfort zone than ever. A brooding, soul-stirring ballad, the track trades pulverizing breakdowns for delicate guitars and bluesy licks that swell into a towering, somber chorus. Guitarist and vocalist Konan Hall delivers a career-best vocal performance, his voice carrying the emotional weight front and center.
Speaking about the release, the band shared: “Surprise! This one is for the lovers. Go listen to our brand new single on all streaming services this Valentine’s weekend, released independently on our very own label MLVLTD Music.
“We have, of course, been known to flirt with the ballads in the past but this one feels like a real step outside our comfort zone of the aggressive mosh parts and breakdowns that people have come to expect. It’s nice to get vulnerable for once, flex our songwriting muscles and show the world that we have much more to offer as musicians than what might meet the eye.”
“Silhouette” may be softer in tone, but it’s no less powerful. If anything, it signals a band confident enough to bare scars instead of fists — and strong enough to make vulnerability hit just as hard as any breakdown.
Malevolence and Guilt Trip are also gearing up to cross the Atlantic this spring for the United Kingdom Metal and Hardcore Across North America 2026 tour.
For Malevolence, this marks their first proper U.S. headline tour, and the band is thrilled to share the spotlight with longtime friends and UK comrades Guilt Trip. The tour kicks off on March 31 at The Shelter in Detroit, MI and wraps up on April 23 at XRay Arcade in Milwaukee, WI. Get your tickets here.
