When you think of Luke Bryan the first thing that pops into your head might not be a catheter pump — until now.
Bryan was a guest on Taste of Country Nights, and I asked him what the oddest thing is that he’s ever signed for a fan. In true Bryan fashion, he lit up and delivered a shocking response that nothing could have prepared me for.

Bryan said it all went down at a meet-and-greet. “Had a girl want me to sign a catheter pump one time…. gross,” he revealed.
The singer says he did indeed wind up signing the medical device.
What is a Catheter Pump?
According to Abiomed, a catheter pump is the world’s smallest heart pump. It’s used in critical care to temporarily take over the pumping function of a struggling heart.
Bryan didn’t elaborate on the circumstances: The woman who asked him to sign it must have either saved it from when she or someone she knows needed it, or maybe she was just carrying one around with her.
But that’s not the only bizarre thing a fan has asked Bryan to sign. After sharing the catheter pump story, he went back in for more: And this one might be even stranger.
He said he once “had a dude wanting me to sign his arm and he said he was having to get it cut off the next week, so…”
But why would you have your favorite country artist sign your arm if you’re just going to get it amputated?

According to Findlaw, it does require jumping through significant medical, legal, and bureaucratic hurdles, but it is indeed possible, depending on what state you are in and the hospital’s policies.
Perhaps the gentleman knew in advance that he was getting his arm amputated and that he would be able to keep it afterwards. We’re assuming he wouldn’t waste Bryan’s signature on a limb that he wasn’t going to get to keep!
