NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Less-muggy conditions are in place this morning. Way-above-freezing temperatures are still once again confined to most of the higher peaks of the Northern Mountains with valley floor locations mostly starting off in the upper 40s or in the 50s, while elsewhere is mostly starting off in the high 50s to the lower 70s.
Persistent west-northwesterly winds aloft with a high pressure system southwest of New Mexico will combine to squeeze out little moisture in the form of very few rounds of Monsoonal thunderstorms across the western and northern areas of the viewing area. Despite some passing clouds, temperatures will rise way-above normal in the upper 80s and 90s with triple-digit heat for many southern communities.
Drier air is in place, but the pendulum swing pattern of muggy mornings out east with breezy easterly winds shifting to southwesterly drier winds in the afternoons forming storms to the east will still continue though. Conditions will continue to dry out while heating up even more later this week until the next push of Monsoon moisture arrives late in the week while cooling things down for more areas by the end of the weekend.
