Love is in the air: Couple gets married on flight to Vegas
A couple on their way to Las Vegas to elope couldn’t wait any longer to get married, opting for an impromptu ceremony 35,000 feet above ground.
Sara Jade Arroyo Montalvo and Bladimil Arroyo were on a Southwest flight to Las Vegas on Aug. 13. When the crew found out about their plans to elope, they decided to cut right to the chase.
The couple walked down the aisle as the 178 other passengers watched and cheered. The captain conducted the ceremony over the speaker system.
“I’ve been a minister for over 30 years and I’ve done hundreds of weddings,” the captain is heard saying. “I’ve never done one quite like this before.”
Montalvo’s veil was made from a cardboard crown and toilet paper.
While the couple exchanged vows and sealed it with a kiss, they officially tied the knot in Las Vegas the next day.
