A stirring patriotic anthem from the legendary Charlie Daniels Band is now available for the first time in a decade, and Taste of Country readers get to hear it first!
A lost track from the archives titled “My Home” drops commercially for the first time on Wednesday (June 17), more a decade after it first debuted.
What Is the New Charlie Daniels Band Song, “My Home”?
The Charlie Daniels Band first recorded “My Home” in 2014 for a Macy’s Fourth of July television special, but the song never saw commercial release at that time.
The recording lay dormant over the years as the Country Music Hall of Famer and his band focused on touring and new recording projects.
Following Daniels’ death in 2020, the track was largely forgotten until 2025, when Daniels’ son, Charlie Daniels Jr., rediscovered “My Home” and started to look into releasing it.

As he relates in a Soap Box column, it took extensive research, conversations with songwriter Bill Schermerhorn and a long search for the master recording of the track to move the release forward, and it couldn’t have happened without help from Schermerhorn and co-writer Doug Katsaros.
The result is an up-tempo track that balances country and rock elements, topped off by scorching, fleet-fingered fiddle runs from Daniels.
The song’s unabashedly flag-waving lyrics are especially appropriate as America prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday on July 4:
Will There Be More Archival Releases From Charlie Daniels?
The archival release of “My Home” is part of a busy slate of projects that Daniels’ estate is focused on in 2026.
Daniels would have turned 90 in October of 2026, leading into what his family terms “the tenth decade of Charlie Daniels.”
Other special events include the Legend of Charlie Daniels show at Fort Campbell, Ky. on July 4, featuring performances from a CDB hologram, the Frontmen, Aaron Tippin and Eric Lee Beddingfield
There’s also an upcoming Best of the Charlie Daniels Band Volunteer Jam compilation album due in August.
