Lobos football team prepares for historic Rate Bowl matchup

Date:

OFFERING THIS TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. THE LOBO FOOTBALL TEAM IS JUST DAYS AWAY FROM A HISTORIC POSTSEASON MATCHUP. AURORA SPOKE WITH THE TEAM AS THEY PREPARE FOR THE RATE BOWL. SHE IS LIVE WITH WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY. FOR THE LOBOS, THIS BOWL GAME IS NOT A SEASON DEFINING MOMENT, BUT A CHANCE TO TACKLE ANOTHER HISTORIC MOMENT. THEY’VE ALREADY ACHIEVED NINE AND THREE ON THE SEASON, SIX AND TWO IN CONFERENCE, AND REMAINED UNBEATEN AT HOME. THEY BEAT TEAMS LIKE THE AIR FORCE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 25 YEARS, WHEN ONLY ONE ACTIVE PLAYER WAS ALIVE. AT THE TIME, HE WAS ABOUT THREE YEARS OLD. THIS TEAM HAS REWRITTEN EXPECTATIONS AND NOW THEY HAVE A CHANCE TO ADD ON ANOTHER STANDARD. I MEAN, IT’S AN AMAZING FEELING. BEING PART OF HISTORY IS SOMETHING PEOPLE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT. IF YOU’RE A PART OF HISTORY BOOKS, YOU’RE REMEMBERED FOREVER. IF YOU IF YOU AREN’T, YOU’RE FORGOTTEN. SO MY HEAD COACH IN HIGH SCHOOL USED TO ALWAYS SAY, YOU DON’T DIE WHEN YOU DIE. YOU DIE WHEN THE LAST PERSON REMEMBERS YOU DIE. SO I FEEL LIKE THAT’S WHAT WE’RE KIND OF BUILDING HERE. WE’RE BUILDING A HISTORIC PROGRAM AND OFF OF A HISTORIC YEAR. THE LOBOS ARE IN POSITION TO WIN TEN GAMES THIS SEASON, WHILE ALSO WINNING THEIR FIRST BOWL GAME SINCE 2007. AND THAT JOURNEY FOR THEM STARTS TOMORROW WHEN THEY DEPART FOR PHOENIX. I’LL HAVE MORE COVERAGE FOR YOU
