The Women’s Professional Rodeo Association is saddened to hear of the passing of Barrel Racing World Champion LaTonne Sewalt

LaTonne was a 2X Barrel Racing World Champion in the WPRA (at the time Girls Rodeo Association), winning her first title in 1950 at the age of 11 years old. Her and her bay gelding “Little Joe” were tough to beat in the 1950’s, winning their second world title in 1954. LaTonne holds the distinction of being the first cowgirl to win the Houston Rodeo in 1950 and is a member of the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame. The Women’s Professional Rodeo Association sends their condolences to the family of LaTonne Sewalt.
