There were actually quite a few revelations about where the Norris family is headed this fall. Consider this a spoiler alert warning as the end of Season 1 will be discussed in detail. The full trailer is below.
Who Does Sam Elliott Play On Landman?
A trailer released in September revealed who Sam Elliott plays on Landman, but this new trailer adds some detail. He’s Tommy Norris’ father and it looks like Tommy and Angela have agreed to let him live with them.
The elder Norris was seen in a wheelchair in the old trailer, and he also is spotted throwing a punch at an unsuspecting man. It’s very likely he’s a man of questionable character and he may also have a drinking problem, like his son.
However this new clip finds him on the verge of offering some professional advice. He also looks to be another humorous addition to the dinner table sequence.
Tommy’s Son Cooper Could Be In Trouble
Tommy’s son Cooper Norris stepped out on his own at the end of Season 1. He and his girlfriend Ariana have a plan to buy small parcels of land and package them to sell to a high bidder. It seems like a great way for an enterprising young man to get going.
Early in the trailer, it seems like he’s having success. Oil is bursting from his wells and he’s all smiles. The smile is gone after his father asks an important question: “Who paid for this?”
Financing matters, and given Cooper’s age and lack of experience it’s hard to imagine a bank taking a chance on him. So, some secret investor is backing him and that spells trouble. However, Tommy has bigger problems.
What Really Happened To Monty Morris on Landman?
Season 1 of Landman ended with M-Tek found Monty Morris (Jon Hamm) dead after he suffered a heart attack. Seventy seconds into this new trailer, we learn that there might have been outside factors.
“I have gone through every email, every file and I now know why Monty was so stressed,” his wife Cami (Moore) tells Tommy in the trailer.
Then a lawyer outlines the allegations: embezzlement, insurance fraud, wire fraud …
The insinuation is that Monty worried he’d soon be exposed and arrested. Bankers are the “sharks circling” which explains why Cami is seen preparing a speech in the first trailer. Tommy is also trying to assure a man in a suit that business is strong.
How Andy Garcia’s cartel plays in to all of this remains to be seen but his presence in the trailer suggests he’ll continue to straddle a line between friend and foe to the Norris.
Of course Angela and Ainsley Norris will also stir up drama, forcing Tommy to drink more than his fair share of Michelob Ultras.
