Kroger KR 1.94%increase; green up pointing triangle said it will book a $2.6 billion charge as it closes some automated facilities and said it expanded partnerships with DoorDash, UberEats and Instacart.
Under its new ecommerce plan, the grocer will close three fulfillment centers located in Florida, Maryland and Wisconsin, while monitoring the performance of its remaining facilities. The closures are expected to improve ecommerce profitability by about $400 million next year, the company said Tuesday.
