Jemez Pueblo getting $3 million for irrigation infrastructure upgrades

JEMEZ SPRINGS (KRQE) – The Pueblo of Jemez is getting a $3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce. The funds will support irrigation infrastructure upgrades.

“This [Economic Development Administration] investment will improve critical irrigation infrastructure for the Pueblo community, that will spur job creation and support a resilient Tribal economy,” U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo said in a press release.

The money comes from the federal Disaster Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2023. The bill put more than $480 million towards disaster relief, wildfires, and flooding across the nation.
