Jelly Roll Opens Up About His Biggest Weight-Loss Struggle

Date:

Jelly Roll has been remarkably open about his weight-loss journey, celebrating major milestones while also being honest about the setbacks that come with changing lifelong habits.

While headlines have recently focused on his split from Bunnie Xo, the “Save Me” singer is opening up about a different personal battle.

He kept it real with what has become one of his biggest challenges since losing nearly 300 pounds.

His Biggest Struggle

In a recent YouTube video, Jelly Roll admitted he recently found himself stress eating, saying the “addict” in him quickly took over after a single indulgence.

He recalled stopping at a venue that served one of his favorite treats — a dairy-free skillet cookie — knowing it was something he typically avoids.

I’m like a drug addict,” he explained. “You can’t eat that, because if I eat one, I eat two. I eat four.”

Before long, he found himself grabbing dessert from a taco truck, then searching for a candy bar during a stop later that night.

“That fast, now I’ve consumed 2,000 extra calories today that I didn’t even see coming,” he said. Jelly Roll compared the experience to addiction, saying once he slips, it’s difficult to regain control.

It’s More Than Food

The singer said the struggle isn’t limited to junk food.

If you put a big bowl of strawberries in front of me and leave me alone, I will eat the entire bowl of strawberries.

Instead, he’s learned to portion out a serving and put the rest away — or avoid the food altogether. As he put it, “How you do anything is how you do everything.”

Jelly Roll said that’s how he’s approached other addictions throughout his life, explaining he’s never been someone who could do anything in moderation.

He also pushed back on the idea of “cheat meals,” saying one indulgence can quickly turn into a five-day food bender.

Knowing His Triggers

Jelly Roll said recognizing those patterns has become one of the most important parts of his weight-loss journey.

He believes food addiction is often misunderstood because much of it happens behind closed doors, making it easy for others to overlook.

You don’t become the size you became without having a mental health issue. It’s something way deeper.

For Jelly Roll, learning what he’s really hungry for — and understanding the situations that trigger unhealthy habits — has become just as important as losing the weight itself.
