Jack Osbourne has released a deeply personal tribute video in honor of his father, legendary Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, who died on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76. The two-and-a-half-minute video, titled Some Memories of My Father, features cherished moments and footage from throughout Ozzy‘s life and career.
Alongside the YouTube release, Jack posted a heartfelt statement: “I haven’t really wanted to post anything since the passing of my father. My heart has hurt too much. I’ll keep this short because he hated long, rambling speeches.
“He was so many things to so many people, but I was lucky and blessed to be part of a very small group who got to call him ‘Dad.’ My heart is heavy with sadness and sorrow, but also full of love and gratitude. I got 14,501 days with that man, and I know what a blessing that is.
“I think this quote best describes him: Hunter S. Thompson once said: ‘Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body… but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, ‘Wow! What a ride!’ That was my dad. He lived — and he lived fully. I love you Dad.”
Ozzy’s Cause of Death and Final Days
According to The New York Times, Ozzy Osbourne‘s death certificate lists the causes as:
- Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest
- Acute myocardial infarction (heart attack)
- Coronary artery disease
- Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction
The certificate, filed in London by Ozzy‘s eldest daughter Aimée Osbourne, describes his occupation as “Songwriter, Performer and Rock Legend.”
Ozzy died at his home in Buckinghamshire, England, surrounded by family. He had battled Parkinson’s disease for several years and suffered from lingering injuries following a 2019 fall. His family announced the news with a brief statement: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
Private Funeral and Public Farewell
A private funeral was held on July 31 on the Osbourne family’s 250-acre estate, with just 110 close friends and family in attendance. Guests included Rob Zombie, Zakk Wylde, Robert Trujillo of Metallica, and Corey Taylor of Slipknot.
The day before, thousands of fans lined the streets of Birmingham — Ozzy‘s hometown — for a massive public tribute. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, and Aimée joined mourners at the Black Sabbath Bridge and commemorative bench, where flowers and keepsakes had been piling up since the news broke.
Ozzy Osbourne is survived by his wife Sharon Osbourne, their children Aimée, Kelly, and Jack, as well as his two older children Jessica and Louis from his first marriage to Thelma Riley, and several grandchildren.
