Inferno Metal Festival is already stoking the fires for its 2026 edition, and the first wave of bands is nothing short of pretty fuckin’ evil. The long-running extreme metal gathering will return to Oslo during Easter weekend, April 2 through 5, taking over multiple venues across the city for four days of darkness and devastation.
The opening announcement reads like a dream lineup for fans of the extreme: death metal legends Deicide, symphonic black metal staples Old Man’s Child and The Kovenant, German historical black/death upstarts Kanonenfieber, and U.S. death metal veterans Incantation. They’ll be joined by Norwegian black metal torchbearers Whoredom Rife, the hellish collaboration Darvaza, Austrian pagan metal act Perchta, and atmospheric black metal project Myr.
More acts will be revealed in the months leading up to the festival, but this first announcement already promises a mix of iconic names, cult favorites, and rising forces across the extreme spectrum. Inferno Metal Festival Norway 2026 so far includes:
- Deicide
- Old Man’s Child
- The Kovenant
- Kanonenfieber
- Incantation
- Whoredom Rife
- Darvaza
- Perchta
- Myr

For over two decades, Inferno Metal Festival has reigned as one of the world’s most iconic gatherings for extreme music, drawing fans to the very heart of black metal’s homeland — Oslo, Norway. Since its inception in 2001, the festival has hosted around 70 concerts each year, covering black, death, thrash, doom, and beyond. With more than 60% of tickets sold to fans from over 50 countries, Inferno has become a true cult phenomenon, attracting metal pilgrims eager to experience the genre where it was born.
The beating heart of Inferno is the legendary Rockefeller venue, a Norwegian institution since 1986 and the country’s most frequently used concert hall. But the festival spills far beyond Rockefeller’s walls — turning Oslo into a four-day metal metropolis every Easter.
It’s not just about the music — Inferno Music Conference runs alongside the festival, bringing together hundreds of delegates from the global metal industry for discussion panels, networking events, and instrument clinics. Held at the official festival hotel, Clarion Hotel The Hub, the conference offers a chance to connect with professionals and artists from around 50 countries.
The festival experience extends even further with movie screenings, tattoo artists, art exhibitions, beer tastings, sauna sessions, signing events, and guided tours of Oslo’s black metal landmarks. Your 4-day festival pass grants you access to Wednesday’s opening concerts and daytime club shows scattered around the city, making every hour of Easter weekend an opportunity for discovery (or destruction).
The Hub itself is a hub in every sense — hosting pre- and after-parties with Inferno DJs, artist interviews, and the famed Black Metal Auction hosted by Tore Bratseth. Guests at the hotel can fuel up on Oslo’s best breakfast (served until 11:00), relax in the pool and sauna, and swap stories with fellow fans, artists, and media from across the globe.
Whether you’re there for the riffs, the industry connections, or just the once-in-a-lifetime atmosphere, Inferno Metal Festival remains the ultimate pilgrimage for extreme music devotees — and 2026 is already shaping up to be one for the ages.
